Answering Your Questions About Ductless AC Systems
August 4, 2021

Everyone needs a good night's sleep, but when the temperature in your room becomes too hot, that’s not always possible. With a ductless air conditioner, falling asleep has never been easier - it will provide you with the coolness you need to fall into dreamland. This is not like those bulky and noisy AC systems, but a portable solution that guarantees you will have a great night's rest.

How does the AC work without ducts? you may wonder, and what are the crucial differences between ductless AC and central air systems?

We won’t leave you in the cold. This article will address all your questions and to top it all off, we will introduce you to the most reliable air conditioning installation service in your city.

1. How does ductless AC work?

A ductless air conditioner, also known as split air conditioning or mini-splits, is a modern alternative to traditional central air conditioning systems. Like Central AC systems, ductless mini splits have two main components:

● an outdoor compressor/condenser, and

● an indoor air-handling unit.

The indoor units are mounted in your home or office and can be wall or ceiling-mounted. The outdoor condensing unit is installed outside of the building.

Here, it connects to a small hole, typically 1/2 an inch in diameter, with a flexible riser tube that transfers refrigerant to the compressor in the mini-split system. The condenser transfers heat generated by the refrigeration process to the tube and then to the atmosphere via the cooling coil outside your building.

Inside, the ductless AC circulates air throughout your living space using a hoseless indoor fan that pumps cool air into the rooms through holes in the walls. It can reverse the air and water cycle, which helps the motor cool itself down without a filter.

2. What’s the difference between ductless AC and central air systems?

The main difference between a central air system and a ductless mini split for your home or office is centralized control. A ductless air conditioner installed in each room allows you to adjust the temperature of each one from a central location.

Centralized control means that if you’re only hot in one or two rooms, you don’t have to cool the entire house down to an uncomfortable temperature.

3. How do you decide which one is right for you?

The deciding factors between ductless AC and central air systems are installation, personal preference, size of the space, and budget.

Split AC costs more upfront, but it's cheaper overall since you can install it anywhere without special wiring and will result in lower energy bills. There's also the advantage of zoning, where everyone can adjust their room temperature to their liking.

In addition to these benefits, the Split AC has earned a reputation for being quiet. It's ideal for homes or apartments that need a room temperature lower than a traditional air conditioner can reach.

4. Can you have zone control?

Zone control is a technology that allows multiple air conditioners to function independently in the same area and maintain different temperatures. This means you can cool one room and not cool the one next door.

With ductless mini splits, you can zone your home into separate temperature zones. It's perfect for larger homes with multiple floor plans and growing families.

5. Is it more energy efficient?

Yes, ductless mini split ACs are more energy-efficient than window or central air ACs. The reason is that the air sent through the indoor coils of a ductless unit is not reheated by the outdoor AC unit, like a window or a central AC.
